About

I trained in mechanical engineering and studio-based design at Rensselaer. My career has included medical-product entrepreneurship, field and usability research, electric-vehicle engineering, community and institutional design, and computational research with university collaborators. I've kept moving between disciplines because real problems seldom arrive neatly divided by profession.

I am interested in both how systems are made and how people understand them: the physical object, the representation of the problem, the rules that coordinate work, and the decisions that need to survive beyond any one person. My practice mixes ethnography, technical specification, prototyping, teaching, and systematic evaluation.
